在雅思小作文（即Task 1）数据类图表的写作中，对重点数据的描述和引用是必不可少的。在引用数据时，除了用到表示趋势或者占据的动词外，相应的介词也是无法被忽视的。很多考生可能会面对这样的困境，那就是背了很多和数据变化或者状态有关的词汇和表达方式，却依然写不好对数据的引用。如果你也有这样的困惑，那么，请将注意力从相关的动词和名词转移到一个更为细微的句子成分上——介词。

The line graph compares the number of car thefts per thousand of the population in four countries from 1990 to 1999. Overall, it can be seen that car thefts were far higher in Great Britain than in the other three counties throughout the whole time frame. To begin, car thefts in Sweden, France and Canada followed a fairly similar pattern over the first five years, all remaining at between 5 and 10 per thousand. The general trend though for France and Canada was a decline in the number of vehicles stolen over the period, with both at around 6 in 1999.
